Web Colors Impact Visitors

Inspired by the blog article Website Colors Affects Your Business, I thought I would analyze the colors of the Easy WebContent (EWC) home page from a visitors perspective. My overall impression was the trending 2012 feel. How they are using a minimalist web design by keeping their pages clean through spacing and contrasting colors.

What each color meant to me:

Blue stood out the most as it took more space than any other color. EWC enabled me to directly know what area of their website I should focus on first.

Green is used as a navigational tool. As you can see in the screenshot of the website all of the important messages are in green signifying an action. If you were to hover your mouse on any green content, it directed you to a different page for more information of that link.

Yellow enhances the design of the website giving it a balance in contrast. The use of yellow on top of the blue is another eye catching navigational tool. You can go onto any page and click on the EWC logo on the top left and it will link you back to the main page.

With these three basic colors, Easy WebContent strategically used each color as a way of navigating their visitors. I had the opportunity to sit down with one of the designers and the tip they gave me about using different hues for an advantage is that, “Location and size are key factors to any website. You want to guide your viewer to priority content.” Through this single tip I hope that the next time you edit your website or even in the process of creating one that you consider the colors yours using. They are not just appealing to the eye but they are utilized as compasses.
